World Youth Day - Homeless Movie Night - 14th August
"Bum", "dole bludger", "no hoper". These are some of the labels that unfortunately are thrown at some of the most vulnerable and neglected people in society, and these are the labels, stereotypes and misconceptions that we aim to eliminate as part of our World Youth Day celebrations.
Each night, there are around 7000 homeless youths in Queensland alone, and a further 6000 children living in out-of-home care as a result of extreme neglect and mistreatment within their own homes. The main message we want to spread is that everyone of these people has a reason for being where they are, that it can happen to anyone, and that we all have a role to play in showing these individuals love and respect.
Help us support the Brisbane Youth Service by buying a raffle ticket for your chance to win a brand new iPhone valued at $649. Contact Sean Riley [email protected] to get your tickets.
Additionally, you can help the young homeless in Brisbane by sharing their stories here and here .
